Interested in Joining PIAVA? Here are the three different types of memberships that we offer, their specific requirements and their costs:
“Regular Membership" is open to individuals who are registered with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) as Private Investigators. Once approved as a Regular Member, you will be entitled to vote in matters affecting the activities and governance of the association; to hold elected or appointed office in the Association; and to enjoy all other privileges of membership. The annual dues to become a Regular Member of the Association is $75.00.
“Associate Membership" is open to individuals who are licensed as a private investigator in a state or states other than the Commonwealth of Virginia; to persons who are registered by DCJS in other private security categories; and to persons who support the goals of the Association and work in areas related to the private security industry. This type of membership is only open to individuals and is not transferable. Associate Members are not entitled to vote in matters affecting the governance of PIAVA or to hold elected or appointed office, but they can enjoy all other privileges of regular membership. The annual dues to become an Associate Member of the Association is $65.00.
"Life Membership" is open to any member in good standing who has belonged to PIAVA for a minimum of ten years, and who has reached his or her sixty-fifth birthday. Upon receipt of a member's application for Life Membership, the current Board of Directors must vote and award this special status to the individual. Life Members are not required to pay annual dues to sustain their membership in the Association, however, if a Life Member wishes to serve as an officer or director, he or she must pay dues during their term.
